Field Service Engineer

KS Analytical Systems provides in-house and on-site repair and refurbishment of specialized analytical instrumentation nationwide. Our business is built on a solid foundation of excellent customer service and unmatched experience.

We currently have a job opening for a service engineer to cover customers in North America. Travel is required, but those responsibilities will be shared in an effort to be flexible. Time spent in the field will be extremely minimal for the first several months during in-house training. Regular travel schedules will rarely exceed 2 nights per week. In-house hours are very flexible as well. We’re looking for some one who is interested in taking on new challenges and growing with us.

Field service engineer job responsibilities include primarily:

  • Perform in-house repair of customer equipment
  • Assist with in-house refurbishment of company owned instrumentation
  • Provide on-site service for customers nationwide
  • General workshop maintenance and organization
  • Packaging and shipping including some items for which wooden crates must be built
  • Provide remote support to customers via telephone

Required Skills

  • Desire to see every problem through to the BEST solution, not necessarily the fastest.
  • General problem solving ability
  • General mechanical aptitude
  • General repair experience of some kind (professional or non-professional)
  • Basic understanding of electronics/electricity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Comfort with air travel
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty (Some machines are installed in process areas of plants)

Other requirements:

  • Clean driving record
  • US citizenship required as many of our instruments are installed in high security environments
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check (see above)
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must be able to travel with very little advanced notice for emergency service (rare)
  • Must be able to work flexible hours/weekends on the rare occasions that projects demand it
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to lay, sit, squat and get up from those positions as necessary for equipment repair

Preferred skills – extensive on-the-job training will be provided:

  • Experience with scientific instrumentation
  • Knowledge of at least basic chemistry
  • Mechanics
  • Higher level computer skills/web-design
  • Higher level electronics repair/engineering experience
  • HVAC repair

Compensation:

  • Negotiable based upon skill level
